Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for drying activities
- Access, interpret and apply drying activities documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for the activity
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Communicate with other personnel using approved communication methods
- Select drying method appropriate for work activities
- Select appropriate auxiliary equipment for work activities
- Perform equipment pre-start checks to ensure equipment is ready for operation
- Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
- Ensure area is well ventilated before entry
- Start-up equipment in sequence
- Operate and monitor equipment
- Monitor the drying process
- Take and interpret data from equipment indicator readings to determine drying efficiency
- Continuously inspect operations/plant and catchment areas/sumps to identify drying process defects and potential problems
- Adjust equipment to approved operating parameters to optimise and maintain efficient drying and to meet product quality targets
- Take samples and conduct tests at all stages of process
- Add reagents to approved operating parameters
- Carry out minor maintenance to maintain condition of equipment
- Complete all required documentation
- Complete shift handover
- Shutdown in sequence and/or isolate equipment
- Conduct housekeeping activities
